Thimphu Tshechu - 9 Days tourDay 1 : Paro - ThimhpuArrive at Paro airport. Flight to Paro will provide breath-taking view of Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga and Bhutan’s sacred Jumolhari and mount Jichu Drake. Drive to Thimphu where the night halt will be at Druk Hotel. Day 2 : Thimphu SightseeingThimphu. Visit Memorial Chorten- a huge Stupa built in memory of the third King of Bhutan. Visit National Library- to see ancient manuscripts, Wood Craft and painting school, Handicraft Emporium- to see Bhutanese textiles, arts and crafts. Lastly visit Simtokha Dzong- oldest fortress in Bhutan built by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1629 A.D. Second night in Thimphu. Over night at Druk Hotel. Day 3 :Thimphu Tshechu. Attend the first day of Tshechu – held in the Courtyard of Tashichho Dzong, which is the main Secretariat Building, where some government ministries, Office of His Majesty the King, the Throne Room, the Offices and living quarters of the monk body and its Chief Abbot are housed. Evening stroll through Thimphu Town. Over night at Druk Hotel. Day 4 :Thimphu Tshechu. Tshechu in the morning and two optional programmes for the afternoon: Continue attending Tshechu or visit DechenChholing- 30 minutes drive from Thimphu to view the Palace of the Queen Mother from a hilltop. DechenChholing is the headquarter of the Royal Body Guard. In the evening, if it is the weekend, we will visit nightclub. Day 5 :Thimphu. Once again, you have two optional programmes: attend Thimphu Tshechu or take a day of excursion to Phajoding- located at a 3,700m. The latter will be four hours walk from Thimphu. It will be an enjoyable hike. You will get the beautiful view of the Thimphu valley from Phajoding where there are several monasteries and a state monastic school. The place is also ideal for meditation. Evening stroll in Thimphu town. Night halt at Druk Hotel. Day 6 : Thimphu to Punakha/ Wangdiphodrang.In the morning, you will drive to Wangdiphodrang across Dochu La (3100 meters), where on a clear day you can get spectacular views of Himalayan ranges. It is about 2 and a half hours drive before you reach Wangdi where you will be checked in at Dragon Nest hotel at Wangdi. After lunch you will drive to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan, and visit Punakha Dzong built by first Shabdrung in 1637.Visit Drupthop Nagi Rinchen’s famous shrine. Evening, walk across the Metshina village and take a 20 minutes walk through the rice fields to the Divine Madman’s Monastry, famously known as a fertility shrine, where you may receive a special fertility blessings if you wish. Night halt at Dragon Nest Resort. Day 7 : Wangdue- ThimphuAfter breakfast, drive towards Thimphu. After lunch, hike to Tango Monastry, the famous Buddhist College located towards north of Thimhpu. The hike is for 45 minutes. Night halt at Druk Hotel. Day 8 : Thimhpu to Paro.Visit several places of interest in Paro, which include National Museum (known as Ta- Dzong). Visit Rinpung Dzong and Drugyal Dzong- located at 16 km from the town. The name Drugyal means “Victorious”. This Dzong has a great historical importance since it was here that the Bhutanese finally defeated the invading Tibetans. Peak of Jumolhari- “Mountain of the goddess” can be seen from here. Visit a Bhutanese farmhouse Evening stroll through Paro town. Overnight at Paro at Tenzinling Resort. Day 9 : Departure from Paro International Airport. |
